I enjoy your articles because you explain complex topics in a way that's easy to understand. I find myself genuinely intrigued rather than intimidated. In this article especially, I really appreciate the similes and metaphors—they really make it click.

I live in Quebec which has a cap and trade program covering large industrial facilities. While offsets and taxes have a penalty for producing more GHGs, cap and trade has a limit and actually an incentive to produce less. More carrot, less stick. I found some information here https://wci-inc.org/

Enjoyed this! I think you’re spot on. Greenwashing and offsets aren’t the full picture. Reducing everything to a single metric like carbon emissions is not the answer.

Seems like we need a grassroots transformation of consciousness and culture that brings back sacred reciprocity and localization. Economic incentives can only take you so far.

We need to catalyze regenaissance.
